What happens to your Word file
This is the normal way to send a manuscript that is not an ebook yet. The .docx is converted to epub, which gives the pipeline real chapters to work with: the headings you styled as headings become the structure the translation follows.
Word is one of the download formats, so a manuscript can go out as .docx and come back as .docx, with the epub next to it.
Headings, italics, footnotes and images carry through. Tracked changes and comments do not: accept or reject them before you upload.

We build a translator's brief from your whole book first — names, terms, tone, typography — and you review and edit it before anything is translated. The brief governs every chapter; each passage is then independently re-read against your original and re-translated wherever that check flags something, and the finished book gets one whole-book read for continuity.
