What a faithful Italian edition must get right
Italian books set speech with «caporali» or with a dash, depending on the publisher. One of the two is chosen for the whole book instead of alternating between them.
English “you” becomes tu, voi or Lei, and the capital L in Lei is itself a convention a book either follows or does not. Who speaks formally to whom is fixed once per pair of characters.
Accented final vowels (perché, città, è against e) are ordinary spelling in Italian, not decoration. They are written correctly everywhere, including in words a conversion tool may have flattened in your source file.
